Hello everyone welcome back to lets see tech. Today I going to share how you can reset your application app signing key in Google play console. Guys, recently I have faced one problem in google play console and after some research, I got the solution to that problem. So today I am going to share the problem’s solution with you guys. The problem is “You uploaded an apk that is not signed with the upload certificate. You must use the same certificate“.
Actually, guys, I have published one application in google play store. The version of that app is v1.3. For some UI modification, I wanted to update that app to v6.0. But unfortunately, I lost my full android projects due to some issue. So I decided to create another project with the same package name. But after completion of that project when I try to update that app in google play console I get an error “You uploaded an apk that is not signed with the upload certificate. You must use the same certificate”. For the first time, I thought that it was not possible to upgrade that app because its certificate not matched.
But after some research, I found that yes it is possible. Actually, I sent a mail to google play developer team regarding my issue. After one day I got a reply from the team and they mentioned further steps to reset that certificate.
Here’s how to generate and register a new upload key:
- Follow the instructions in the Android Studio Help Center to generate a new key. It must be different from any previous keys. Alternatively, you can use the following command line to generate a new key:
keytool -genkeypair -alias upload -keyalg RSA -keysize 2048 -validity 9125 -keystore keystore.jks
- This key must be a 2048 bit RSA key and have 25-year validity.
- Export the certificate for that key to PEM format:
keytool -export -rfc -alias upload -file upload_certificate.pem -keystore keystore.jks
- Reply to this email and attach the upload_certificate.pem file.
so here you need to use keytool -export -rfc -alias upload -file upload_certificate.pem -keystore keystore.jks this command to generate your new certificate and reply back that certificate to the google play developer team.
for example keytool -export -rfc -alias islam -file upload_certificate.pem -keystore 8051new.jks
I have already created one video on this topic you can get details about this. Just watch this video.
